Internet data offer may be a good option as a deadly virus forces people to stay at home

Many professionals and other working staff are mostly working online while staying at home to ensure social distancing due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus as cases of victims jump to 803 in Pakistan along with six deaths.

The latest situation has further increased the demand for effective and seamless communication. Owing to this growing demand, the Ufone cellular service provider has introduced another unique initiative for its valuable customers, according to a news release issued to the national media.

SUPER INTERNET PLUS

The company’s officials said that the telecom operator has stepped forward to help people by introducing the Super Internet Plus, a monthly internet offer that solves the hassle of weekly recharge and assists in working from and staying home while getting connected to outside the world.

According to the press release, the monthly package is available for Rs 499 and offers 13 gigabytes of which eight gigabytes are for the internet along with additional five gigabytes for WhatsApp facility. In this initiative, the data for WhatsApp will encourage remote communication and content-sharing making work from home easy for professionals.

WHAT ASIM SIDDIQUE SAYS

Digital expert Muhammad Asim Siddique who is the administrator for the Campus Management System (CMS) at the Punjab University in Lahore, also suggested the authorities concerned to introduce special discount packages of 4G/3G broadband internet for educationists and students to make easy and cheap access to online classes.

He said that a dedicated staff, under his supervision, will soon start working to automize around 75 departments of the Punjab University and over 600 affiliated colleges by equipping them with the campus management system. To a question, he said that the campus management system is an information structure that deals with different kinds of institutional details, courses, student details, academic related reports, and of-course about the supervision of the online classes.

To avoid the academic loss of its students, he said that the College of Information Technology (PUCIT) has already initiated online classes with the help of Google hangouts meet, Google Classroom and other online teaching tools. The university requested its faculty to remotely engage students in academic activities by giving them recorded lectures, projects, assignments, and even live video sessions where possible, as the students are not allowed to enter the campus where only necessary staff will be available.

ONE-STOP SOLUTION

The Ufone officials said that the customers can subscribe to this data offer while staying at home. They also said that the customers can find Upaisa as their one-stop solution for their various mobile and financial transactions needs including free of charge balance recharge, utility bill payment as well as transfers to other bank accounts (IBFT).

To facilitate recharge while ensuring convenience, multiple online channels including Upaisa, MyUfone app, and credit/debit cards are available. Upon any recharge with credit/debit card via MY Ufone App, an exclusive discount of 10% is also being offered. Additionally, accounts can be recharged through external channel partners, details of which are available on the company’s Facebook pages.

Through this initiative, the officials said that the company has yet again proved itself as a socially-responsible organization that is constantly working for the well-being of its people in these testing times. They said that the company is providing convenience to its valuable customers in order to limit the requirement for retailer visits and to continue to facilitate as many people as possible in the current situation.
