On the recommendation of Prime Minister Imran Kahn, Pakistan Television Network (PTV) is playing Dirilis: Ertugrul and it has already broken the records of massive viewership here in Pakistan. The popularity of the action series in Pakistan can be estimated from the fact that almost every social media platform is flooded with the talks about its story, characters, and dialogues.
Some are seen praising their favorite characters and dialogues from the series while some are seen criticizing them for their modern dressing in real life.
Even Pakistani showbiz personalities could not help jumping into this. Shaan Shahid and Reema Khan opposed the idea of playing Diriliş: Ertuğrul on the state television and urged the government to encourage local talent. Replying to a couple of tweets, Shaan wrote that borrowed content is not the solution to revive our TV. He added that PTV should produce epics like Dirilis: Ertugrul instead of borrowing it from other countries. He also sarcastically pointed out that funds are being eaten out at PTV but nothing is being produced.
A few days back, Reema Khan during her Ramzan show at a private news channel said that she seconds the stance of Shaan in this regard. She added that this is unfair to play foreign content on the state television when our own artists are workless. She further elaborated on her point that our artists pay taxes, not the ones who are being promoted on PTV. Such disparity should not be there, she added. However, in her recent program, she suggested the government to share Pakistani content with Turkey in exchange for their content. She said that money generated this way can be used for the welfare of our own artists.
Couple Sahiba Rambo also praised the series on their social media forums. Sahiba wrote on her wall that the people of Pakistan have proved that they like to see strong Islamic content.
Rambo tweeted that he has no words to praise Dirilis: Ertugrul. He also wrote that after watching such content, one wishes to work like this but here in Pakistan producers give almost the same content.
Now, when Pakistanis have made themselves vocal enough to be noticed by the cast of the series, there are some beautiful responses from the cast of the Dirilis: Ertugrul. Esra Bilgic who played the role of Halima Sultan in Dirilis: Ertugrul replied to a comment on Instagram that she was anxious to visit Pakistan after this lock-down ends. She also wrote to another comment that she was very happy over the immense love and support from Pakistan.
Engin Altan Duzyatan who played the lead role of Ertugral expressed his feelings about Pakistan and wrote on social media that he loves Pakistan. He also said thanks to all the viewers from Pakistan and expressed his wish to visit Pakistan one day. Recently, Ertugrul’s Dogan Alp (Cavit Çetin Güner) is also announced that He will visit Pakistan very soon.
Either its Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, Dirilis: Ertugrul is everywhere making people sharing their views about the history of Islam and its heroes.
There is good news as well that after Dirilis: Ertugrul, Prime Minister Imran Khan has suggested another Turkish TV series Yunus Emre and Pakistani nation is anxiously waiting to watch that show too.
